Once again, it is the CA’s focus on the ongoing stamp duty holiday which takes up the bulk of our activity this month. Some were expecting an announcement on an extension to be made during the Chancellor’s Spending Review however that wasn’t forthcoming and the anticipation must be that, if any extension is to be granted, we will not hear about it until 2021.
The good news is that the Treasury continues to listen to the calls for an extension and that the industry appears to be speaking with one voice on the need for it. We will certainly continue to bang that particular drum in the weeks ahead in order to keep the spotlight on this important issue.
In other news, the CA launched the fifth version of its Cyberfraud and Fraud Protocol – details of which can be found in the coverage below – and the Association is urging all firms to reacquaint themselves with the document, its amends and to ensure they are in the best possible position to fight off any attempts at fraud.
