The Trainee Conveyancer Course is designed to provide delegates with a detailed knowledge of the relevant legal formalities required to convey a property transaction in England and Wales.
Each module comes with a training manual, PowerPoint presentation and online assessment to verify knowledge and understanding of the topic. Each candidate will be presented with a graded Certificate of Achievement following completion of the course.
The Trainee Conveyancer Course consists of the following modules:
1. Understanding and Interpreting Freehold Title (to include Flying Freehold)
This module enables you to have an understanding of freehold title, to include flying freehold.
2. Understanding and Reporting on Title Enquiries
Module 2 aims to introduce you to title enquiries, and the importance of raising suitable enquiries.
3. Understanding and Interpreting Unregistered Property
This module should provide you with an outline and understanding of the concept and laws surrounding unregistered land.
4. Understanding and Interpreting Leasehold Title
Many conveyancers find leasehold properties daunting; indeed, they are more difficult to title check than freehold properties. This module guides you a grounding in title checking such properties (rather than being a guide as to how to convey leasehold properties.)
5. Understanding and Interpreting Leasehold Management Packs
Module 5 provides an introduction to Leasehold Management Packs, and an outline of the necessary knowledge surrounding them in order to correctly understand the information they provide.
6. Understanding and Interpreting Shared Ownership
In this module, we will be covering Shared Ownership Schemes and the concept of fundamental clauses. In addition, we will consider the impact of such schemes on Stamp Duty Land Tax, extending leases and taking possession of a shared ownership property.
7. Understanding and Interpreting New Build Title
This module will give you guidance on how to deal with new build titles. These are often daunting and the contract pack can be very complex. We will consider plans, guarantees, service charges and how to report to the client.
8. Understanding and Interpreting Planning Permission and Building Regulations (including Listed Building Requirements)
Planning Permission and Building Regulations are complex, and conveyancers are not experts in this field. This module aims to provide you with information that will enable you to ensure the interests of your client and mortgage lender are protected.
9. Understanding and Interpreting Search Results
This module will provide learners with an understanding of search results, in order to be able to raise enquiries and report to your client with confidence.
10. Acting for the Lender / Understanding and Reporting on Mortgage Offers
In this module, we introduce you to the requirements when acting for the lender, as well as going into some depth about the CML Handbook and recent changes.
11. Understanding Transfers at Undervalue
This module will provide you with an outline of the necessary procedures when dealing with Transfers at Undervalue.
12. Understanding and Reporting on Indemnity Insurance
This module will take you through the different types of indemnity insurance as well as the limitations and what advice to provide to the client.
13. Understanding and Interpreting SDLT
In the final module of the Trainee Conveyancer Course, we identify the key principles and major issues surrounding Stamp Duty Land Tax, and how that knowledge should inform the day-to-day work of a conveyancer.
How long will the course take?
We anticipate that each module should take delegates approximately 40 minutes to an hour to complete, with a total of 12 – 14 hours required to complete the course. Delegates may complete the course over several days, whilst others will take several months. There is no time limit to completing the course.
How will delegates learn?
Delegates will be given access to our online training platform, which allows delegates to study at a time and place that is convenient for them. Delegates will be instructed to read the module handbook, either online or in its downloadable format, and will then undertake the module assessment online. Delegates will receive an automatic grade for that module once completed.
What certification will delegates receive?
Each delegate that successfully completes the course will receive a Conveyancing Academy Certificate of Achievement.
How can I monitor my delegates?
Each legal practice will be given “Teacher” administrator access to the course, allowing access to view delegate grades and monitor their progress.
