My role within Fidler & Pepper primarily involves picking up the “stuff” that no one else wants to deal with. I divide my time between running the firm with the help of my directors and developing online systems to either provide additional services to clients or to help us run our business more effectively. I find the combined roles of business leader and geeky tech-head suit my schizophrenic personality.
I’ve found being a member of the management committee invaluable as it’s the only place where I can talk openly with other business people who are facing the same issues as our firm. In conveyancing, it’s easy to feel isolated and unappreciated so it’s great to spend time with people who are facing the same problems. As you’re all facing similar issues it’s a great forum for discussing problems, threats and best practices – market intelligence and how to deal with potential problems, as well as what’s happening in the wider property market.
