Conveyancing Foundation sets £50k pre-Christmas fundraising target for Children with Cancer UK
The Conveyancing Charity Foundation, which has been established to assist conveyancing lawyers in generating funds for their chosen charities, has today outlined its latest charity target – to raise over £50k for Children with Cancer UK by Christmas.
Last year, the conveyancing industry embraced the Conveyancing Foundation’s Matterhorn Challenge and helped to raise over £50k for the Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice.
Since it was established, The Conveyancing Foundation has raised nearly £400k through its Free Legal Fee Charity Competition, which is where the majority of the funding is anticipated to come from for this latest initiative.
The Free Legal Fee Charity Competition allows clients to win up to £500 towards their legal fees and has been adopted by a number of conveyancers to help raise funds for their chosen charities.
In September the Conveyancing Foundation Chairman, Lloyd Davies, together with Geraint Aubrey and Rory Brown from Convey Law, will be taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge – climbing the three highest mountains in the UK in aid of Children with Cancer UK (see photo below).
Lloyd Davies, Chairman of the Conveyancing Foundation, commented:
“Over 4,000 children are diagnosed with cancer in the UK every year – that is over 10 children every day. This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone in the conveyancing industry to get together to raise money for this fantastic charity. Children with Cancer UK invest millions of pounds every year in essential research, welfare and campaigning programmes to save young lives. The Conveyancing industry demonstrated last year what we could do as a collective to raise money for those in need and I very much hope that everyone in the conveyancing industry will get behind this initiative this year. Thank you all in advance for your help, support and donations.”
Jayne Falconer, Major Relationships Manager at Children with Cancer UK, said:
“We are delighted to be working with the Conveyancing Foundation to raise money and awareness of Children with Cancer UK. The team are kicking off their support with the Three Peaks Challenge, and will continue to raise much needed funds through their networks within the conveyancing industry leading into Christmas. No child should die from cancer. That’s why Children with Cancer UK invest millions of pounds each year in cutting-edge research: to help us understand why children get cancer in the first place and to better treat it, so that one day we can save the life of every young patient. The Conveyancing Foundation will enable us to help the 4,000 young lives who are diagnosed with cancer every year. We thank them for their support and look forward to working in partnership.”
