April began with our AGM, Management Committee Meeting and All-Members Meeting which were held at the House of Commons. At these meetings we were able to provide details on some of the significant progress that is being made to delivering on the work streams as outlined in our Strategic Plan, which was most pleasing. Plus, we also outlined the changes that have been made in a number of membership categories, and the addition of a new Affiliate Member, Lexis Nexis.

One of the big mainstream media issues remains leasehold and there appears no let-up in the interest. Director of Delivery, Beth Rudolf, toured the BBC Radio studios during the month and we would urge you to listen to her contribution in both the MoneyBox debate and the You & Yours programme. We also updated the media on the specific progress the CA has made in terms of delivering leasehold reform.

There was also significant news from CA member firm, Convey Law, who were able to announce the facilitation of the first e-signature exchange of contracts, working with CA Affiliate member, Bonafidee.

Of course, with the announcement of the snap General Election by PM Theresa May in April, we now find ourselves in a purdah situation with all Government business on hold until a new Government is returned and a new Cabinet in situ. Eddie Goldsmith, our Chairman, gave his view on how this might impact on the delivering of housing reform in his regular piece for Estate Agent Today at the end of the month.
