Throughout the month there was a huge amount of speculation on what the Budget would deliver the UK housing and mortgage market. In the end, all the policy kite-flying simply blew away, with speculation around significant changes to stamp duty, for example, simply turning out to be that and nothing else.

Even the announcements that were made – such as a Mansion Tax – are set to be introduced in the years ahead, not right now. In the end, you might ask, whether the disruption to demand and activity caused by the rumours, was all worth it?

On a tangible front, the CA continues to secure views on the ongoing Government consultations in order to form its responses. The online roundtable for members next month is well worth attending, in that regard – details below – and to inform yourself about the consultations and some of the views currently held by the CA we would urge you to read Beth’s pieces in Today’s Conveyancer and Mortgage Solutions.
