The Conveyancing Association (CA), the leading representative body for the conveyancing industry, has today (25th November 2025) announced details of an online roundtable taking place on 3rd December 2025, designed to secure feedback to respond to the two major Government home buying and selling consultations currently open.

The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) is seeking industry feedback on two consultations: Home Buying and Selling Reform, which looks to reduce delays, fall-throughs and uncertainty in the transaction process; and Material Information, which looks to improve transparency by ensuring key information about a property is made available to buyers upfront.

Both consultations close on 29th December 2025 and the online roundtable will be used to secure feedback from legal member firms which will directly influence the CA’s official responses, and help ensure the conveyancing profession’s expertise is clearly represented.

To help members and stakeholders understand the potential impact of the proposals, the online roundtable will feature representatives from across the home-moving sector, including a practising conveyancer, Propertymark representing estate agents, and the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) representing mortgage brokers.

The panel will outline the key themes of the consultations, discuss the practical implications for conveyancers, and answer questions from attendees.

Insights gathered during the session will inform the CA’s consolidated responses to Government, as will a member survey, which the CA is asking all its members to complete. Those wishing to contribute to the CA’s response can complete this by visiting: www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZKCJWVQ

The CA also confirmed the issues raised in these consultations, as well as its responses, will also form part of the programme at its 2026 Annual Conference, where members and stakeholders will have the opportunity to explore the proposals in more depth as part of wider discussions on the future of the conveyancing sector.

Nicky Heathcote, Non-Executive Chair of The Conveyancing Association, said:

“It doesn’t need me to tell the conveyancing industry just how important these Government consultations and their outcomes are going to be for the future of the profession and the services members will offer to consumers. These consultations cover proposals that will shape the way property transactions are completed for years to come, so it is vital the practical experience of conveyancers is reflected in the final policy direction.

“Our online roundtable will provide a clear overview of the issues, give participants the chance to hear perspectives from across the sector, and ensure the CA’s response is informed by those working at the heart of the process, as will our survey, which we are encouraging all members to complete. It’s vital we hear from our members so we can ensure their wants and needs are placed at the heart of the proposals which will emanate from the Government after these consultations close.”
