Matterhorn Walkers raise over £7,500 for Children’s Hospice.

Last weekend, members of staff from Convey Law and Monmouth RFC undertook the Welsh Three Peak Challenge in support of the Matterhorn Challenge and the Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice. They scaled the highest peaks in North, Mid and South Wales, all within 17 hours! Walking a total distance of 20.35 miles, whilst making a total ascent of 9,397ft (2,864m), the 8 intrepid walkers started climbing Snowdon at 4:30am and finished at Pen Y Fan in Brecon at 9pm!! It rained all day and the visibility was terrible, but they had a great time!!

Lloyd Davies, Chairman of Monmouth RFC and Operations Director for the Conveyancing Association, who are sponsoring the Matterhorn Challenge, commented:

“We managed to raise a staggering £7,619.69 for the Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice, including gift aid, Convey Law sponsorship and donations. Everyone worked really hard on the fundraising, with the patients from Teeth for Life dental practice and members of Monmouth RFC each donating well in excess of £1000.00.

“It was a really tough challenge, especially with the wet weather and with visibility so poor, but spirits were high and everyone battled on and enjoyed the day.

“We look forward to the next Challenge this weekend and the Onesie Ty Hafan Cardiff walkers, who are walking around Cardiff to raise money for Ty Hafan. We anticipate that their fundraising will take the Matterhorn Challenge fundraising total to over £10,000.00 next week!!”

Notes to Editors
Ty Hafan was founded in 1999 and provides respite care for terminally ill children up to 18 years of age and their families from its base in Cardiff, South Wales. The hospice needs to raise over £3.7 million per annum, with only a fraction of that income being derived from government funding. Since its establishment, the hospice has provided invaluable support for hundreds of children and their families. The name Ty Hafan is Welsh for Haven House. The Conveyancing Foundation is a Registered Charity which has been established to help the conveyancing industry to raise funds for charity. The Conveyancing Foundation will officially launch in September 2015, with a “Free Legal Fee Lottery Competition” providing clients with the opportunity to receive a refund of up to £500.00 from their conveyancing fees. The Lottery competition aims to emulate the success of Convey Law Ltd, conveyancing specialists, who raised over £260,000.00 for charity through a similar lottery completion and other challenges over the course of the last 5 years.
The Conveyancing Association was founded in autumn 2010. It is the only trade body in the residential property sector which specifically represents the interests of both licensed conveyancers and solicitors firms in the UK who fall into the category of ‘Serious Conveyancers’.
Since the launch, the CA has developed a significant presence in the sector and has expanded its membership of like-minded firms to 53. Its members carry out over two thirds (67%) of all UK mortgaging work and 15% of all UK property transactions.
The CA is a not-for-profit membership association of licensed conveyancers and solicitors firms whose objectives are to improve the experience for the home moving public, to encourage greater collaborative
working as it leads to greater profit and efficiency, to take a fresh and innovative approach to that process, and to raise standards and co-operation with all others involved in pursuit of those objectives.
