Our News Coverage | March 2024

March’s Budget didn’t change the dial at all in terms of significant Government intervention into the housing and property market, although there were a few measures announced which will impact on the sector, namely cuts in higher rate CGT for those selling residential property, plus changes to multiple dwellings stamp duty relief and the furnished holiday lettings tax regime.

In terms of improving the home buying and selling process, there has been some movement however with the Levelling Up Committee announcing an Inquiry into this specific issue. The CA will be responding and is urging its member firms to feed into this.

The DPMSG has also opened a survey on the future of conveyancing and the more that respond, the stronger the results will be. More information on this in Beth Rudolf’s article on Today’s Conveyancer.

Material and upfront information provision remains a hot topic in the sector, and firms are being urged to engage with this, and to ensure they are able to benefit from this.

Towards the end of the month, a fifth iteration of the BASPI was launched following an annual review into the document to ensure it remains up to date and fit for purpose. Further details are available in the press release and the coverage it secured.
